Thomas Shapiro

Thomas Shapiro began dancing with the Linda Jamieson School of Dance at the age of 8 in the Children's Graded Program where he studied, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre and Contemporary dance. He passed all Examinations from Grades 1-7 with distinction. He has also completed the Vocationally Graded Examinations (Pre Professional Program) from Intermediate Foundations to Advanced 2. During Thomas’ 10 years of training, he danced numerous lead roles in the Linda Jamieson Dance Company’s Productions of Nutcracker, Giselle, and Coppelia.

Thomas won the Cappies Award for “Best Male Dancer” in four of the Earl of March Secondary School Musicals, “The Boyfriend”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Oklahoma”, and “Thoroughly Modern Millie”. In competition Thomas was an outstanding member of the Senior Dance Team at Linda Jamieson School of Dance amassing a number of Ultimate Gold awards as well as titles at the American Dance Awards including Senior Regional Representative in 2007, Senior Dancer of the Year 1st Runner Up, 2008 and Senior Dancer of the Year 2009 2nd Runner Up.

Upon graduation from high school, Thomas was offered a contract with Celebrity Cruise Lines as a Dancer and Aerial Artist. In 2010 he performed in: “Solstice The Show”(Cirque Show), “Pulse” (Pop/Rock Show), and “Ghost light” (Broadway Show). In 2011 he performed in the “Celebrity Equinox” Production which includes, “Equinox The Show (Cirque Show), Remix (Pop/Rock Show) and Limelight (Broadway Show).

Currently Thomas is at University of Ottawa in the Bachelor of Commerce Program specializing in Accounting. Upon completion of his studies, he will return to Celebrity Cruise Lines as “Dance Captain.
